5 Teenage Boys Drown in Godavari River During Holy Bath in Telangana’s Karimnagar

In a sad incident on Sunday (June 15), five teenage boys from the same family drowned in the Godavari River near Basara in Telangana. The incident happened while the boys were taking a holy bath in the river before their visit to the renowned Gnana Saraswathi Temple in the town. The police confirmed the incident.

All 5 Had Gone for a Holy Bath

According to Avinash Kumar, the Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) from Bhainsa, a group of nearly 20 devotees, all from Hyderabad, had gone on a pilgrimage to the Gnana Saraswathi Temple. All these victims were part of this group. As part of their religious practice, the boys entered the Godavari River for a holy dip before offering their prayers.

The incident happened suddenly when the water level led to a strong current sweeping the boys away. The rest of the team members raised an alarm immediately, prompting a search and rescue operation by local authorities.

Immediate Rescue Operations Launched

As soon as the incident was reported, the police and rescue teams rushed to the spot After extensive efforts, all the bodies were recovered from the water and taken to a nearby government hospital. Doctors there confirmed that all five had died by the time they arrived at the hospital. The authorities have sent the bodies for post-mortem examination, and officials are awaiting the formal reports.
